Zamakan Gameplay

Overview

Zamakan is an endless runner set in an alternative reality where ancient Egyptians have become a space-faring civilization. Flying an Egyptian-themed spaceship through an asteroid field, players must avoid collisions with objects that bend the fabric of time-space.

My Contributions

As a Gameplay Programmer for this title at Game Hermits, my responsibilities focused on core mechanics and the user interface:

  • Procedural Level Generation: Developed the procedural generation system in Unreal Engine that dynamically spawned asteroid fields, ensuring varied layouts and balanced difficulty progression.
  • Built the in-game UI from scratch using UMG, including the ship selection screen, gameplay HUD, and pause menus, with data binding for dynamic state updates.

The Impact

  • Successfully shipped the title on Steam, navigating release requirements and platform compliance.
  • Developed a procedural generation system capable of continuously spawning level content without frame drops.
